It has become a tradition for FromSoftware’s Soulslike games to feature multiple endings connected to different NPCs, from the extending of the age of fire in Dark Souls to becoming an eldritch god yourself in Bloodborne. As with tradition then, Elden Ring features a series of endings for you to discover.

Each ending in Elden Ring sees a different fate befall the Lands Between, with some being clearly better than others. The darkest and most gruesome ending in this list is perhaps the Blessing of Despair ending, a conclusion that sees the Lands Between cursed by a defiled tarnished.
Speak With The Dung Eater
To begin your quest to bring despair to the Lands Between, you must first meet with the Loathsome Dung Eater, a legendary tarnished mentioned in the game's opening cutscene.
To do so, you must have first reached the area known as Leyndell, Royal Capital. This is a mid to late-game area, so do not expect to complete this questline early in your journey. Once you have found the capital, return to the Roundtable Hold to find the door beyond Gideon’s study open. Head into this room to find the Loathsome Dung eater.

Upon talking with this rot-ridden tarnished, you will be rebuffed, with the character having no interest in conversing further. To continue this questline, you will need an item named the Seedbed Curse. Seedbed Curses can be found in a number of locations throughout Elden Ring - their locations are listed in sections later in this guide - once you have one in your inventory, the Dung Eater will allow you to speak with him further.
During this next conversation, the Dung Eater will give you the Sewer-Gaol Key and ask you to set his true body free from its prison.
Finding The Dung Eater’s Jail
Taking your next steps towards the Despair ending, you will need to travel to the Sewers beneath Leyndell, Royal Capital.

From the grace named the Lower Capital Church, travel towards the destroyed part of the city by the dragon’s wings. Here, you will find a well, jump down here. Push forward until you reach a site of grace and touch that. From the site of grace, head left and drop into the grate in the ground ahead of you. Having jumped down the grate, head right past the poison flowers to find the Dung Eater’s cell.
Unlock the cell with the key that the Dung Eater gave to you earlier and then s peak with him. When prompted, choose the dialogue option that says, "Leave your gaol!." Having done this, return to the Roundtable Hold and to the Dung Eater’s room. Here you will find a note stating, "I'll defile you next. Come to the outer moat."
Defeat The Dung Eater At The Outer Moat
Next, you must head to the outer moat, a small patch of water just outside the capital. Travel to the location pictured above, and you will be invaded by the Dung Eater. Fight him and kill him to progress the quest. As a reward for taking down the Dung Eater, you will get his blade named the Sword of Milos.
Following this, return to the Roundtable Hold to find the Dung Eater there once again. Here he will tell you to defile him by locating a number of other Seedbed Curses.
Seedbed Curse One
For the first Seedbed Curse, travel from the West Capital Rampart grace in the capital. Drop on the right-hand side into the area filled with ash. From here, go left and climb onto the ruins of a building; an item will be on this rooftop.
Once on the ruin, you can enter into what seems to be a replica of the Roundtable Hold. Travel to where you know the Dung Eater’s room to be, and pick up the Seedbed Curse.

Seedbed Curse Two
To get to this item, you will need a Stonesword Key. Travel to the Temple of Eiglay in the Volcano Manor. Once there, head up the lift to your right and jump off the ledge into the rocky area below.
Overcome the Lava Slugs and keep moving forward through the manor's upper levels until you come to its interior. Once inside, ascend a set of stairs, and behind you will be a room. To enter this room, you must use your Stonesword Key. In the room, you will be faced with a large drop, the Seedbed Curse is at the bottom. This next part requires some serious parkouring, so be careful and make sure you are stocked with flasks in case you take damage. Jump down, using the cages as steps along your way.

Be careful when you land; there will be a series of enemies that can quickly grab you. On the bottom level, in the location pictured above, you will find the second Seedbed Curse.
Seedbed Curses Three And Four
The final two Seedbed Curses are located in one of the toughest areas in the game. To reach them, you must find the Haligtree and specifically the Prayer Room. For a detailed outline on how to get here, check out our guide on how to complete Millicent’s questline.
For the first Seedbed Curse in this location, head out of the Prayer Room and travel along the path, taking the first set of stairs onto the lower level. From here, jump onto the support and then jump again onto the area with some red-leafed trees and a stone fountain. Cross this short area, heading forward, and jump onto another support. Walk upwards and leap onto the gangway. At the end of this path, there will be an item, this is the Seedbed Curse.

For the second Curse, take the same set of stairs as before, but head forward until you see a doorway. Next to this doorway will be some supports. Jump onto this and jump down again. Go into the room ahead to find your final Seedbed Curse.
Completing The Dung Eater’s Questline
Having found every Seedbed Curse, return to the Dung Eater’s cell in the sewers and hand them over. For this, you will receive the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse, the item that allows you to unlock the Dung Eater’s secret ending.
For another bonus, reload the area to loot the Dung Eater’s corpse to find his bloated and curse-ridden armour set.
You can use the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse after defeating the final boss to get the Blessing of Despair Ending to Elden Ring.
